Morning Glory

Work-obsessed producer Becky (Rachel McAdams) is hired to revive a terrible morning TV show on struggling network IBS (not sure if that’s a deliberate joke, but let’s say it is). After Becky fires one of the presenters, she hires legendary newsman Mike I-dabbed-Mother-Theresa’s-brow Pomeroy (Harrison Ford) as a replacement.

Pomeroy doesn’t do ‘fluffy’, but his network contract obliges him to accept the gig. Naturally, he and his co-host (Diane Keaton) hate each other. Will the show survive? Will Becky finally find time for off-air, off-clothes love with smokin’ colleague Adam (Patrick Wilson)? This is quite a sweet and undemanding comedy from writer Aline Brosh McKenna (The Devil Wears Prada). Ford does irascible so well, just like his father (by whom I mean Sean Connery in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, of course). 7/10
