Sherlock Holmes returns with a slightly more consistent accent and slightly less limpy Watson to unravel the fiendish plan of ginger genius Professor Moriarty. Bombs are going off in Europe and anarchists are suspected, but Sherlock knows better. He’s soon dragging Watson away from his nuptials for a romp across the continent in search of a key figure in the plot, the brother of gipsy fortune teller Madam Simza (Noomi Rapace, now dragon-tattooless).
There’s more of the same banter, buddy-movie schtick and directorial panache and that’s a good thing: if anything, it’s better than the first film. 8/10
