Captain America: The Winter Soldier

"To answer your question: no, I'm not going down."
“To answer your question: no, I’m not going down.”

Captain America is out of sorts, as you would be if you’d spent 60 years since WWII in deep freeze. He’s sent in to rescue some S.H.I.E.L.D. personnel taken hostage on a ship, with no help whatsoever from Thor, Iron Man et al. Though he does have Agent Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson), who’s handier than Al in a fight.

But he’s worried about S.H.I.E.L.D.’s plans for pre-emptive policing. He’s just not sure what it stands for anymore (Strategic something something…? Nope, me neither). Next thing he knows, people are trying to kill him, there’s a mysterious new super-powered villain coming after him and Iron Man still has his mobile switched off.

This a smart and witty action sequel with something to say about finding your place in the world. And that secret security agencies don’t need to know where that place is. 8/10

Released April 4, 2014.
