A bloke with a moustache (clearly nefarious) holds a young woman prisoner in his remote, snow-bound house. Through a series of somewhat confusing flashbacks we then see how she was kidnapped as a nine-year-old, and the subsequent effects on her parents (Ryan Reynolds and Mireille Enos), whose torment the kidnapper enjoys following.
This has the makings of a good thriller as a police child-porn unit tries to track down the abductor(s). Unfortunately it lacks tension, twists and fully realised characters, and relies on its random timeline jumps to keep viewers engaged in piecing the story together. After a slow build-up, it rushes to a conclusion as if the director was running out of film, and it leaves too many loose ends. 6/10
